Assessing the Effects of Diet on Disease

The effects of many dietary factors on health remain unclear, due to absence of rigorous, systematic efforts to identify and synthesize available evidence from controlled interventions and prospective observational studies. Also, global nutritional work has historically focused on micronutrients in isolation, rather than complementary, broader evaluation of foods and overall diet patterns which may have similar or even greater health effects.

To address this gap in knowledge, we will evaluate and quantify etiologic effects of major dietary factors on chronic and infectious diseases throughout the lifespan using the best available evidence.
